Breech Presentation
The Webster Technique, pregnancy-specific form of chiropractic care can prevent breech presentation by increasing room for the uterus and the baby. Using the Webster Technique, the pelvis is aligned and the muscles and ligaments relaxed so that mother and baby have the most possible room. This encourages a baby in a breech presentation to turn head down and enhances the comfort of an already properly positioned baby. The Webster Technique has the advantage over other techniques for how to turn a breech baby that it is completely safe, without danger of harming the baby or the mother.
The Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics reported in the July/August 2002 issue an 82% success rate of babies turning vertex (head down) when doctors of chiropractic used the Webster Technique. Further, the results from the study suggest that it is beneficial to perform the Webster Technique as early as the 36th week of pregnancy when a woman has a breech presentation. For everyone wondering how to turn a breech baby, the Webster Technique represents an effective, and safe, method to incorporate.
