Massage Therapy
Though most are familiar with what massage therapy is, not all are aware of the health benefits, nor have they ever received a professional massage. Given that experts estimate that upwards of 90% of disease is stress related, it stands to reason that receiving regular bodywork is stress reducing and prevents disease.
There are many different forms of massage that range from using long, smooth strokes with oil, to using deeper, more penetrating and therapeutic pressure. Some techniques don’t use oil at all and rely on rocking, stretching and rapid pounding to relax and rejuvenate you.
Regardless of the technique, massage improves circulation by bringing oxygen and other nutrients to body tissues, relieves muscle tension and pain, increases flexibility and mobility, and helps clear lactic acid and other wastes, which reduces pain and stiffness in muscles and joints.
